White Co. Executive Spotlighting Dogs To Help Ease Shelter Capacity

White County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson working to help the White County Animal Shelter’s capacity issues.

Robinson said there are several reasons for why the shelter is seeing such an influx, including an increase of surrenders after the pandemic and lack of fixing the animals. He said whatever those reasons are, he wanted to do something that might help.

“We’ve got lots of lovely, friendly animals out there that need a home,” Robinson said. “And I’ve been trying to spotlight a few on my Facebook page to help advertise them. We’ve been finding good homes for some, but we still need more help for anyone out there looking for that friend.”

Robinson said this cause is important to him because he understands that the animals just want love and attention.

Robinson said the posts have seen much success in getting some animals adopted. He said they even helped reunite a dog with an owner who lives in Michigan.

“I don’t know the details of how the dog found its way down here,” Robinson said, “But someone saw my post on Facebook and it ended up being his dog and he was able to come down and get him and get his pet back.”
