Weather Forecast Moves TTU’s Lighting The Quad To Thursday

Tennessee Tech’s Lighting the Quad event has been postponed to Thursday due to rain.

It was originally scheduled for Tuesday. Chief Communication Officer Karen Lykins said even though it will be on a different day, the same festivities will take place.

“The historic quad has always been a place where people want to gather,” Lykins said. “It is where people make memories, and so, a few years ago President Oldham and Kari decided that was a perfect place to spend some time at the holidays and add some beauty to campus.”

Lighting the Quad will begin at 5:30 p.m. The free event features the lighting of holiday lights, music and an after party at Memorial Gym. Lykins said the event has turned into a real tradition that students and the community participate in each year.

“The photo ops are something that everybody wants to be a part of,” Lykins said. “You just get to capture your college memories. It has become exactly what we have wanted it to become. For the rest of the season, you can drive by in front of Bell Hall and look down the quad and enjoy that every evening.”

Lykins said to celebrate the event, participants will receive a free t-shirt specific to this year’s event. Lykins said the lights will remain on campus until January.
