Jackson County Schools will host a school safety day for teachers on December 12th.
Director of Schools Kristy Brown said the administration underwent safety training over the summer and thought it was important information. She said teachers will work with Tennessee Highway Patrol will go over safety plans, do school walk-throughs, and do scenarios of emergency situations.
“Just make a day of it,” Brown said. “Make sure that we have a solid plan os we can make sure our schools are as safe as they can be for our students and for our faculty and staff. So we’ll be working with (THP) for part of the day, and with our local EMS and SROs.”
Brown said students will use one of their allotted virtual learning days. She said those days do not have any effect on the number of safety days the school uses.
Brown said safety is always at the forefront of the school system’s minds. She said this will act as just another asset to aiding the school’s safety.
