White County Chief Deputy Kenny Dobson named the Law Enforcement Officer of the Decade by the Sheriff’s Office.

Dobson said he has served the department for over 30 years mainly as a school resource officer for 21 years.

“It made me proud, and I was very happy,” Dobson said. “it was all of a surprise to me. i had no idea that I was going to get. My kids were there with me, and I just don’t have the words to see enough about it.”

Dobson said he has enjoyed his years working with the students and faculty of White County. Dobson said these days he mainly works with patrol officers as support.

Dobson said the most important aspect of law enforcement to him is treating all people with respect.

Dobson said retirement is not on the table at this time. He wants to continue working for the current Sheriff.
