Cookeville Fire Department had a swift response to a household fire on Buck Mountain Road Wednesday afternoon.
Battalion Chief Cliff Venters said he did not have an exact address at the time of reporting, but that it was in the Old Qualls Road area. When responders arrived, he said there was visible smoke.
Venters said the cause of the fire appeared to be of electrical origin in the home’s basement, but that it was still under investigation. He said there was moderate damage to a corner of the home’s basement, but that everyone escaped the structure without injury.
Venters said they were on the scene for about an hour and a half. He said Cookeville Police closed the road for approximately 30 minutes while the fire was dealt with.
