Fentress Chamber of Commerce bringing back its Leadership Fentress and Youth Leadership Fentress for another year.
Director of Tourism and Membership Seth Vaughn said the courses are professional development programs designed to connect community members and high-school students with industry leaders from the area.
“That will teach participants or in some cases students the do’s and don’t’s of leadership,” Vaughn said. “It’ll also connect industry leaders and participants. It’s a great way for students to sort of get established and create that pipeline between industry leaders and themselves, potentially for future job references.”
Vaughn said participants in the program will attend public meetings, complete community service projects, and job shadow across various industries in the community. He said they have plans to job shadow attorneys, teachers, and the healthcare field.
Vaughn said the goal is to not only connect individuals with those in the workforce, but also to encourage individuals to get involved in community affairs, and learn how their leadership style could have a positive impact on their community.
