Warren County General Sessions Judge Ryan Moore taking steps to form the county’s first mentor program for neglected children.
It is called Court Appointed Special Advocates or CASA. Moore said starting the program was a goal of his after being elected as Judge in August.
“I believe that every child deserves to grow up in a safe and loving home,” Moore said. “Our juvenile court population is very high in Warren County. This volunteer advocacy program will provide an extra set of eyes and ears for the court, so the court can establish what is in the best interest of the child.”
Moore said an organizational meeting is scheduled for this Friday at the Warren County Courthouse. Moore said the group needs volunteers to serve on the board, be advocates and help fundraise.
Moore said the CASA program has already been awarded a $20,000 grant, but it needs an additional $20,000 to match the grant. Moore said the goal is to appoint its first advocate at the beginning of next year.
