Work on Sycamore Elementary’s air conditioning unit upgrades is underway.
Deputy Director Tim Martin said the school expects the equipment to arrive within the next two weeks, and should be completely installed swiftly after that.
“We have had some issues over there, obviously not shutting down the whole systems or anything but it’s taking a lot of time for our maintenance guys to stay over there and keep things up and running,” Martin said. “Because of the age of the units, we decided to go ahead and replace those.”
Martin said the work will be done on rooftop units, so there will be no disruption to school business. One unit costs the school about $10,900 for classroom AC and the other unit cost about $13,000 for the kitchen area. Both units will be paid from the school’s general purpose fund and not ESSER dollars.
