Success For Monterey, Algood, Baxter Incumbent Candidates

Monterey’s Incumbent Mayor Nathan Walker will remain in his position for the incoming term.

Walker earned some 97 percent of the votes, just over three percent for write-ins. Ward 1 Incumbent Aldermen Alex Garcia and Ward 2 Jim Whittaker have earned 99 percent of the votes in their respective districts.

Ward 4 Incumbent Bill Wiggins earned some 93 percent of votes in his district, with about seven percent of votes going to write-ins. Candidate James Woflgram is set to take the Ward 3 seat with 98 percent of the vote, and two percent to write-ins.

All Monterey candidates ran unopposed.

In Baxter, the two incumbents Willie Allison and Greg Phillips earned the top votes at about 43 percent for Phillips and 38 percent. The third candidate Brian Burgess some 17 percent of the votes.

Four candidates ran for two seats in Algood’s City Council race. Incumbents Bill Bilbrey and Ruby Hawkins earned the most votes, earning 31.9 percent and 29.8 percent respectively. They defeated Tim Mcpherson and Loyd Norris.

Incumbent Mayor Lisa Chapman Fowler is running unopposed, earning 96 percent of the vote.
