TTU Creating Contract With Design Firm For Stadium Project

The State Building Commission has approved a design firm to lead Tennessee Tech’s Tucker Stadium project.

Athletic Director Mark Wilson said it is the same designer of the Marc L. Burnett Student Recreation Center.

“The next step is that we need to formally get into a contract with Wold|HFR, and then once a contract is fully executed, then they will begin the official design process of the west side of Tucker Stadium,” Wilson said.

The plans call for a completely new west side of the stadium featuring premium seating, suites and club level seats. Wilson said once a contract is signed, the university will hold regular design meetings leading up to construction.

“There will be lots of meetings as they work to design the stadium that Dr. Phil Oldham, the Board of Trustees, administration and us in athletics have for the improvements,” Wilson said.

Wilson said Wold|HFR Design of Brentwood along with a stadium consultant called SLAM were selected by the state building commission.

Wilson said one challenge designers have asked about is completing the project for the 2024 season. Wilson said the university will have to be creative since the football team will play on that field.
