Word has gotten around about an existing recreation area that has become a hotspot for paddle sports enthusiast.
The Cane Hollow Recreation Area is located in White County on Center Hill Lake. Park Ranger Ashley Webster said what used to be a remote access point has turned into a destination to view Burgess Falls.
“We have the unique capability to allow people to access the lake from Cane Hollow and kayak, paddle or boat up to Burgess Falls,” Webster said. “It is a three mile paddle up and of course, your trip back.”
Webster said she has seen an uptick in activity this summer compared to previous seasons. Webster said the Corps of Engineers also recently added parking and other facilities that helped bring in more people.
White County Commissioner Stanley Neal said at recent commission meeting that the growth of the recreation area is something to “keep on the radar.”
