Putnam Solid Waste Issues Reminders For Waste Drop-Off

Putnam County Solid Waste reminds community members that out-of-county waste is not permitted at any drop-off locations.

Director Doug Ashburn said that with so many new people moving to the county, they wanted to make sure that people understand protocols.

“What that does is the more trash, the more it costs to haul it out,” Ashburn said. “So we just want to make sure that the citizens of Putnam County are taken care of. This is just serving as a reminder.”

Ashburn said that transfer stations are typically used for commercial trucks and heavier equipment for waste drop-off. He said that residents are meant to use convenience centers.

Ashburn said that Class I waste, including household and municipal solid waste, goes to the transfer station. He said that construction and demolition waste will go to the Class III landfill located on Cookeville Boatdock Road.
