Alderman Dale Wanted Longer Suspension Of Etheredge

Livingston Alderman Rex Dale said he would have liked a longer suspension and probation of Police Chief Greg Etheredge.

Dale voted against the suspension proposed by Alderman Chris Speck Monday night that ended in a 3-2 vote.

“So my reasoning was more of while I still support the chief, and I think that he has done a fantastic job, I felt like the severity of the punishment was very light,” Dale said. “It could have been a little stronger in my opinion.”

Etheredge was suspended for 3 weeks without pay and placed on probation for six months. Etheredge will also be required to report in front of the board on a monthly basis.

Alderman David Langford also voted against the three week suspension. During the Monday meeting, Langford said he would not have somebody like Etheredge working under him following the deficiencies.
