New Stadium At Livingston Academy On Track

Livingston Academy’s new stadium project is on track for completion by the first game.

Overton School Board Chair Mike Hayes said that the new scoreboard has been delivered and that they expect the lights in mid-June. He said that the only potential issue could be the steel beams for the bleachers.

“It’s cutting it close right now as far as getting here in late July and getting the bleachers installed so hopefully that issue will be resolved and everything will be good,” Hayes said. “But that’s the only thing that we can see that may push us back. We do have a contingency plan that if something happens we can move our first home game to Cookeville or to Tech.”

Hayes said that based on the map provided by the construction team, they are still on track but have several weeks of work left to do.

“They’ve got probably a couple more weeks of grading, stormwater drains to put in, they’ve got the retaining wall poured for the concession stand, they’ve got the blocks laid for the foundation of the concession stand,” Hayes said. “I think the next week or two the plumbers will be in to do the plumbing, then they’ll concrete over the top of the plumbing, then they can start the block walls on the concession stand, and then they’ll start the block walls on the new ticket booth.”

Hayes said that the plan is still to have the concession stand completed in a second phase. He said they expect it to be completed in late November or early December.
