UCHRA/UCDD Pilot Program To Receive State Funding

The Upper Cumberland will be announced as a pilot grant winner by the state Thursday that changes how help is delivered to those in need.

A press conference has been called for at the state capitol at 10:45 a.m. Governor Bill Lee will announce that UCDD/UCHRA will be one of seven entities that receive up to $25 million of funding for respective pilots.

The basis of the Upper Cumberland pilot would develop a relationship based model for social services by implementing prosperity coaches for families. At the same time, it tackles the idea of the benefit cliff. An anomaly that caps how much assistance an individual can receive.

The Tennessee Department of Human Services and the Families First Community Advisory Board will also be a part of the announcement. $175 million in Implementation Grants will be awarded.

The grant awards are a part of the state’s plan to use federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families funding to use across the state.
