Putnam Schools To Begin Upperman Principal Replacement Process

Putnam County Schools are starting the process of finding a replacement for Upperman High School Principal William Stepp.

Stepp agreed to a three-year contract last week as the Cumberland County Director of Schools.

Putnam County Schools Communications Supervisor Hannah Davis that the system has a committee in charge of interviewing candidates for the position.

“They’re looking for someone with an administrative license, prior experience as an administrator, and I’m sure if they have prior high school experience that would be a plus,” Davis said. “And really someone who is just a good fit for Upperman and the community.”

Davis said that they have at least five applicants who have applied for the position. She said that they hope to begin the interview process sometime this week.

Davis said that the incoming principal will start at the beginning of next school after going through training this summer. She said that Stepp will finish out this school year.

“We’re really excited for Mr. Stepp,” Davis said. “This is great for his career, and we really are sad to lose him.”
