Allardt Land Company Gifting 200 Acres To Stewart Creek Gorge

Allardt Land Company set to gift some 200 acres to the Stewart Creek Gorge.

The gift will add land to the Pogue Creek Canyon State natural area in Fentress County. The area was designated as a state natural area in 2006.

Manager Gordon Martin said that acres sit on the edge of one of Allardt Land Company’s premier equestrian facilities. He said that they feel as though it’s important to work on conservation.

“We’ve always been stewards of the land and this is not the first time we’ve donated,” Martin said. “We donated 10 or 12 years ago nearly 100 acres that’s now a part of the Big South Fork, we donated land that’s now part of the Fentress County Industrial Park. We’ve very conservation driven.”

Martin said he’s been told that it will be used to extend hiking trails to places that have otherwise been inaccessible. He said that hiking is what they call “below the bluff,” and hikers will be able to see beautiful natural areas, waterfalls, and things of that nature.

State Officials will dedicate the land on May 14th.
