Highlands Working With PCSS To Organize High School Hiring Event

The Highlands Economic Partnership is working with the Putnam County School System to organize a part-time job fair.

Presdient/CEO Amy New said the initial plan is to start with about 10 employers and host a hiring expo at high schools across the county.

New said her team has been working with Putnam Schools CTE Supervisor Leslie Eldridge to make the event happen. New said so far, the school has been receptive to the idea.

Director of Schools Corby King said he would work with principals to possibly have the event this May. New said the hiring event could include the hospitality industry, landscape companies and county/city departments.

New said the idea for the hiring events came from a Putnam County Joint Economic Community Development Board meeting in March. New said when she heard of many departments such as Cookeville Leisure Services struggling to find workers, she thought high school students could help.
