Clay Library Hosting Easter Event This Saturday Morning

Clay County Library hosting an Easter event for kids this Saturday.

Librarian Alecia Burns said that the event comes as part of a monthly series to get kids into the library.

“To find out what the library offers number one,” Burns said. “And also with Clay Count being such a small community, there aren’t many things that the kids have access to event-wise without going out of the county. So we would love to get them in here and get involved with the library as well as get to do something fun for Easter.”

Burns said that the event will include free pictures with the Easter bunny, snacks, a craft, and reading lots of books.

“I know that tone of them is going to be ‘It’s the Easter Beagle Charlie Brown,’ because that’s one of my favorites,” Burns said. “And then I think we’re also going to try and make wind chimes out of flower pots that they can take home for the craft.”

Burns said that it’s important to instill the love of reading in kids because you never go a day in your life without reading, even if it’s just a text on your phone.

“But the knowledge you get from books and the imagination that the kids get when they read the books and use their own imagination is I think the most important part for me for children,” Burns said. “Because every book, even if everybody in the world reads the same book, it’s going to be different for each person and I think that’s what makes books great.”

Burns said that the event is free and does not require an RSVP.
