Early Voting Registration Deadline Monday, April 4th

Deadline to register to vote for the May 3rd primary election is this Monday, April 4th.

Overton County Election Administrator Craig Story said that there are several ways to register.

“You can go to your local election office, that would be one easy way of doing it, “Story said. “If you’ve got a driver’s license on file with the department of safety, you can go online and register that way. That’s a good, easy way of doing it–online. There’s just a bunch of ways to help people make it easy to register to vote.”

Story said that moving from out of state or into another county would affect your status. He said it would be a good idea to re-register if you’ve recently moved. Story said that if you are unsure of your voter status, you can download the app called Go Vote TN and look yourself up.

Story said that registering to vote is not something that should be taken lightly.

“Everybody needs to have a voice that’s heard,” Story said. “And that’s the way that you get your voice heard, is by going ahead and making it known at the polls.”

Story said that if you miss the Monday deadline, the next one falls on July 5th to be able to vote in the August elections.
