Fentress Approves Bid For New Generators At Three County Emergency Shelter Locations

Fentress County will purchase three generators to place at three fire halls across the county.

County Executive Jimmy Johnson said that the bid for all three totaled some $26,000. He said that the generators will be used in the Pall Mall , West Fentress, and Rescue Squad buildings.

“It’s a great need, especially in this time of year and coming out of having some electric being off,” Johnson said. “And floodwaters getting up in the Delk Creek area in Pall Mall. When we have a lot of rain we will have a road that will flood and we’ll have a lot of people come out to the shelter and will stay.”

Johnson said that the generators were supposed to be in place when the buildings were built, but they were not. He said because of this, the commission has taken the steps to ensure they have the funding to get this generator and install it.

Johnson said that they hope to get another generator for the Senior Center with a new bid this summer.
