This Week White Commission Considers ARP Bonuses

This week in the Upper Cumberland the White County Commission will consider one-time bonuses for county employees.

Full-time workers could earn $3,000 and $1,500 for part-time employees. The funding comes from the American Rescue Plan.

A speed limit reduction may also be approved. The speed of Parker Road could change from 35 to 25 mph. The road runs from Gum Spring Mountain Road to Sullivan Knowles Road.

The commission will also consider marking 14 county vehicles as surplus. 2000’s model police patrol vehicles make up the majority of the list as well as an EMA car and Highway department truck.

Four landfill vehicles could also be marked as surplus in a separate resolution. Lastly, commissioners will discuss a $160,000 budget amendment for a highway capital projects for the remainder of the fiscal year.

The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the White County Courthouse.

The city of Cookeville will have two meetings Monday afternoon. A city council work session starts at 4:00 p.m. and a Cookeville Planning Commission takes place at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday, the Putnam County Regional Planning Commission could update its by-laws. Current language quotes old Tennessee code. Members will also consider language to delegate signing of plats to staff or another designee.

In other business, a preliminary plat for a 49 lot subdivision on Moss Road could receive approval. The plan includes three new proposed roads on the some 47 acre property. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m.

The White County Planning Commission will consider a preliminary plat for a 19 lot subdivision Tuesday. The Duck Pond Road development would subdivide a 10 acre property. The meeting begins at 5:00 p.m.

Thursday, the Putnam County Board of Education meets at 5:00 p.m as well as the Sparta Board of Aldermen. At 5:30, the Cookeville City Council meets. The Baxter Board of Aldermen gathers a 6:00 p.m. The Gainesboro Board of Aldermen meets at 7:00 p.m.
