Sparta/White County Rescue Squad Hosting Father Daughter Dance

Friday and Saturday is the last chance to purchase tickets for the Sparta White County Volunteer Rescue Squad Father Daughter Dance.

The annual event comes March 5th at the White County Agricultural Building. Assistant Chief Charlie Tollison said this year’s theme is a 50’s night sock hop.

“It gives an opportunity and a chance for fathers and daughters to get out,” Tollison said. “It seems many things are geared around mothers. It gives the dads a chance to get out with their daughters, because most of the time, it doesn’t happen too often.”

Tollison said the ag building will be decorated around the theme of the night as well as a 50’s inspired performance from Zimmer Broadcasting. Tollison said dinner will be served too.

“I’m sure they will play some modern music where the kids that are a little older will enjoy it a little more too,” Tollison said. “It will be a variation of music, but there will be quite bit of 50’s in it. Also, there will be a meal served. It will be chicken fingers, corn potatoes, rolls drinks and some type of dessert.”

As with most volunteer emergency crews, Tollison said fundraising has been difficult. COVID cancelled many events such as last year’s dance. Tollison said he wants to see a large crowd return to help fund the rescue squad.

“All the proceeds actually have to pay for the food and stuff,” Tollison said. “Then, all of it goes to rescue squad to buy equipment or even pay for tuition to go to classes.”

Tickets are $15.00 per person. They will be available at the rescue squad building at 320 Bockman Way. You can purchase from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday. No tickets are sold at the door.
