Sen Blackburn Hears Concerns Of White Co Leaders At Roundtable

Impacts of inflation the center of discussion as White County leaders joined Senator Marsha Blackburn in a roundtable discussion Friday.

Blackburn engaged with local elected officials at the White County Courthouse. Blackburn said the feedback now heads back to Washington.

“The number one issue that came up today was inflation,” Blackburn said. “We also heard a lot about crime and we heard about the border and how that plays into crime and just a lot of concern about the direction the country is headed.”

County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said he worries about inflation for his county employees. Robinson said the increase causes concern when considering county raises.

“Most of your county employees are pretty much on a tight budget anyways,” Robinson said. “Then you start throwing this five or six percent inflation in on top of that, that just eats up any increases or raises.”

Robinson said this was Blackburn’s third or fourth visit with White County officials. Blackburn said the concerns she hears from local leaders are main drivers for legislation.

“I take it to Washington and put it to work,” Blackburn said. “I save the best advice and best ideas for bills and legislation and resolutions comes from what I hear talking with people in the state.”

Commissioner Stanley Neal, Sparta Vice-Mayor Jim Floyd, Sparta City Administrator Brad Hennessee and Property Assessor Junior Jones were also present.
