Putnam Libraries Use National Library Lovers Month To Highlight Amenities

February is National Library Lovers Month, and Putnam County Libraries are taking that time to encourage community involvement.

Media and Outreach Librarian Cynthia Julian-Simmons said that libraries have evolved into so much more than books over the years. She said users can borrow mobile hotspots, DVDs, audiobooks, access STEM learning, and telescopes.

“We love to have some focus on the library and really reintroduce people to what a library is now compared to what it was when they grew up,” Julian-Simmons said. “Because change happens, and we are continually changing and adapting to whatever our community needs are.”

Julian-Simmons said that they plan on having several events in honor of National Library Lovers Month. She said that they are going to launch a “Lunch and Learn” where people can bring their lunch to the library and listen in on a guest speaker on various topics.

Julian-Simmons said that the best way someone can celebrate the month is to simply get a library card and visit.
