Prescott South Middle School Celebrates Girls Basketball Championship

It was an exciting day at Prescott South Middle School as its girls basketball team returned Monday as State Champions.

Principal Tera Brooks said the student body spent the morning celebrating the 26-0 season.

“We got to recognize all the girls. They came out to the mid-court, we talked about their season and of course their victory on Saturday,” Brooks said. “Everyone seemed excited and supportive, ad it was a great way to start the day.

Brooks said over the course of the season, she saw friendships grow, the importance of team work and leadership. Brooks said the team skills players learned can be applied both on and off the court no matter what they do in life.

“To be a leader and to work with others well, I hope that they take that and others see that as well and they grow,” Brooks said.

Moving forward, Brooks said she sees great potential as the players move to high school. Brooks said the state championship is something that will be a lasting memory for the players and school as a whole.

“Their coach even mentioned after their win on Saturday, this is something that they will have as a lasting memory, and hopefully, they can build on it even more in the future,” Brooks said. “Hopefully, they’ll get to play even more together in the next years in high school and who knows what happens after high school for them.”
