Jamestown Replacing Sewer Lines Downtown With CDBG Funds

Jamestown will continue improvements to its sewer system with this week’s state grant awarded to the city.

Chief Financial Officer Gail Dishmon said the some $630,000 will be used for line replacements downtown at North Main Street.

“It’s very very helpful,” Dishmon said. “I know that in the last two years we had to do an rate increase to go start working towards upgrades on our plant. This saves a lot of those increases.”

Dishmon said the improvements will bring the downtown system to about 75 percent rehabilitated. Dishmon said Jamestown has been using CDBG funds on sewer improvements since 2009.

62 governments across the state were awarded Community Development Block Grants.
