White BOE Chair Ends Central Subcommittee, County Use A Possibility

The White County Board of Education disbanded its Central View community subcommittee after hearing no formal plan from residents.

The school board gave members of the Central View Community a year-end deadline to create a plan for the vacant school. Committee Chair Bob Young said county use could be on the table now.

“The Central View property was noted during a county survey by a consultant working with the Parks and Recreation Department during their course of their assessment of the county as a potential site for strategic planning,” Young said.

Young said the property being considered in the master plan was one of the more important things learned during the committee’s life. Young said the school now knows the property has potential use by the county.

School Board Chair Jayson McDonald said the property was included as a part of the inventory process. McDonald said the parks and rec department will soon be taking public comment on its master plan.
