Putnam’s Fairest Of The Fair To Compete For State Title

Putnam County’s 2021 Fairest of the Fair winner Leanna Marcy is preparing to compete for the state title on Friday, January 21st in Murfreesboro.

Marcy said that while she’s participated in pageants for several years this was her first time competing at the fair. She said that she’s excited to take part and represent the Putnam County community.

“I just think is something that is really amazing,” Marcy said. “That although I get to go out and do the pageant, it’s just the amazing support I’ve found along the way from our amazing Fair Board and our community and everyone in Putnam County has shown me so much love and support along the way, and it’s just something I’m so thankful for.”

Marcy said that right now she’s preparing by working on her interview skills for that portion of the competition. She said that because there are both pre-interview and on-stage question components, it’s important to do well in those phases.

“It’s going to be three days’ worth of state convention,” Marcy said. “So I’ll be there with the Putnam County Fair Board going through different events with them. But for the pageant itself really, that morning we’ll do an interview. So you go in and have a one-on-one interview with the judges and then later that night will be the formal actual pageant that guests and everyone can attend. And we’ll go out and walk for formal wear and our evening gowns, and then after that, they’ll select a top 10, and then the top 10 get to answer the on-stage question.”

There will be 48 young women competing for the state title. Other Upper Cumberland Fairest of the Fair contestants include Savannah Kelley of White County, Clara Robinson of Overton County, and Emma Dykes of Cumberland County.
