White Co Basketball Courts Resurfaced, New Goals Installed

The White County basketball courts near its high school have reopened after a temporary closure for improvements.

County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said residents can expect new paving and amenities.

“It’s looking good,” Robinson said. “It’s been resurfaced. Its color coordinated maroon and gray to match our county high school colors. Basketball goals I think all of them have been replaced.”

Robinson said the only item remaining for the project is installing two pickle ball court nets. Robinson said the goal is to have those installed in the next few months.

“That requires a little drilling,” Robinson said. “I’m sure soil conditions will be a deciding factor on when it is a good time to drill.”

Robinson said the county commission has been eyeing the improvements for sometime. Robinson said the sports complex was in need for resurfacing, but a fallen tree last year brought more attention to the project.

“When the tree fell on it, it tore down some of the fence and broke one of the ball goals, we thought that would be the best time,” Robinson said.
