Hickory Valley Fire Department has started a calendar sale fundraiser to buy new gear.
Treasurer Ken Hatfield said calendars cost $75. Owners will be entered for a chance to win a firearm every Friday. Each calendar is numbered and if your number matches the Friday Evening Tennessee Cash Three, then you will receive the selected firearm.
“Friday evening drawing usually around 7 o’clock,” Hatfield said. “As soon as we see the numbers, we will match them up, contact the winner, give them instructions on where to go transfer their weapon and that is the only money they will have to pay is a transfer tree.”
Hatfield said a Rock Island 1911 pistol will be this Friday’s giveaway. Hatfield said the firearms are being purchased by the fire department from a local shop. Winners must be in compliance with Federal, state and local guidelines.
“It has pictures of all the Hickory Valley Fire Department equipment that we have,” Hatfield said. “Some of the scenes we went on. Some of the life flight scenes we have participated in. We have made them made here in town, and it is just a great opportunity.”
Over 20 firearms ranging from revolvers, rifles and shotguns can be won. Hatfield said each calendar purchased means the Sparta based volunteer fire department can stay up-to-date with its gear.
“Calendars are available through any of the fire fighters. They’re also available exclusively through Brady’s Printing, as well,” Hatfield said. “This gives us an opportunity to raise some funds to buy some much needed equipment. As a volunteer fire department that is the only way that we can survive.”
