White County will not go forward with the removal of a stop sign at Judge Austin Road.
The sign is located at a 3-way stop where Taft Church Road and Jerry Parker Road connect. County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said he refereed to T-DOT for advice, which found the matter to be a county issue.
“So when it came back up in committee, and I reported that it basically just kind of died in committee,” Robinson said. “It’s not been brought back up, so as of right now there will be no change. It will remain a three-way stop.”
Robinson said the stop sign in question is where Taft Church Road transitions into Jerry Parker Road. Robinson said some perceived the stop as having no reason since the roadway remains straight.
“If you didn’t know there was a name change in the road, you would see no reason for there to be a change. It is just a straight shot,” Robinson said. “So it had been brought up to remove the stop sign on the Jerry Parker and Taft Church side and just let people go straight and stop on Judge Austin.”
