Fentress County will apply for a Tennessee Arts Grant to place a mural in downtown Jamestown.
County Executive Jimmy Johnson said that the mural on East Central Avenue would showcase local scenery and the beauty of Fentress County.
“As you come into the square there in Jamestown off of Highway 52 heading west there’s a home ship building there and they had just a big wall that’s always blank there’s nothing on it,” Johnson said. “So we’re going to address that if we can get the grant to put some pictorial things on it of what is in Fentress County.”
Johnson said that the grant could be up to $15,000 or $20,000. He said that this grant has no matching component.
Johnson said that this is something the county has wanted for some time. He said it will put more life into the buildings nearby, and that they hope that this can be one step into enhancing its downtown area.
