Art Jam Brings Back Paint An Ornament Event For 4th Year

Cookeville’s Art Jam is hosting its 4th “Paint An Ornament” event starting this Monday.

Owner Mary Mae Smith said that the Art Jam is a place for people to come together to create art. She said that the business’ regular class is a step-by-step acrylic paint tutorial, but it also has fun workshops like the ornament painting.

“You can choose from a huge selection of ornaments most of them are wooden,” Smith said. “And then the instructor will get you everything you need to get them painted and designed and really you’ve got free reign there, but we’ve got a couple of ideas there if you aren’t quite sure what you want to do.”

Smith said that the best part of the workshop over the years has been the lasting memories it has provided.

“My favorite thing that I’ve heard from folks is they still have their first ornaments that they’ve made with us on their tree,” Smith said. “Or that they’ve given them to someone and that someone still has that ornament up on their tree.”

Smith said that tickets can be found on the business’s Facebook page and Eventbrite page. She said that one ticket can account for up to 10 people.

“This is a fantastic family event, we can cater to all ages, you can bring the kiddos all the way up to the grandparents,” Smith said. “This is a really great, very cheap, if you want to do some handmade gifts for your family or your friends. It’s just a ton of fun.”

Smith said that event will run in one-hour appointments starting at noon until ornaments run out.
