Cookeville’s Life Church Hosting “A Night Of Christmas Jazz”

Cookeville’s Life Church is hosting a festive evening of Christmas Jazz on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.

Associate Pastor Alex Lisic said that Life Church is a community church that wants to help serve the community.

“And really helping to spread the love of Christ all over and however we might do that,” Lisic said. “Sometimes we find unique ways to do that. We try to be creative and fun and unique but really just try to serve the community best we can.”

Lisic said that “A Night of Christmas Jazz” will feature entertainment from the Cumberland Jazz Collective and some of the church’s very own worship leaders singing classic Christmas songs.

“If you are ever spending time with your family around the Christmas tree and maybe you’ve got a fire going, and you hear like that smooth Christmas music that we used to hear a long time ago right,” Lisic said. “Like that nice upright bass, a little bit of saxophone, trumpet, like there’s nothing that feels more like Christmas than kind of a jazz Christmas”

Lisic said that it’s important for the community to be able to come together and celebrate the holiday spirit. He said this event allows for an opportunity for the community to lift its spirits.

“We’ve had plenty of reasons, if you watch the news or whatever, there’s plenty of reasons to be down and depressed,” Lisic said. “And I think when we come together and we sing about the hope of Christmas and especially in the community when people from all different churches and all different walks of life and everybody sings about the hope of Christmas, man there’s nothing more powerful than that.”

Lisic said that there will also be programs happening on the church’s campus that evening for children up to high school age. He said that the event is free and open to the public.
