Upperman High Expansion Brings Chorus Room, ROTC Drill Hall And Wrestling Facility

The Putnam County School Board approved architectural services for the Upperman High School Expansion Project.

Director of Schools Corby King said that the expansion could expand the capacity for up to 150 additional students.

“What we have in mind at this point is to extend the west end of the campus to add four additional general classroom spaces, one larger multipurpose training facility that could be used for faculty, staff, or for students,” King said. “Then we are also adding, and this is more for programming as they increase the number of students.”

King said that they are also adding a chorus room and space that doubles as an ROTC drill hall and wrestling facility. He said that it would be a place to store the team’s mats and give them a place to practice. King said that they currently practice in the cafeteria.

“We’re really excited about the opportunity for this project,” King said. “And utilizing those ESSER funds to continue the growth on that end of the county.”
