One Stop Shop For Veterans Coming To Leslie Town Center

It is a day for veterans Tuesday, a Career and Resource Expo Tuesday.

Veteran Employment Representative Jimmie Simpson said the event will feature employers, college opportunities and services to improve their quality of life. Simpson said whatever the veteran’s need is, they can get an answer

“VA health care, benefit claims, just community involvement,” Simpson said. “If they’re looking for a job, there’s going to be employers there ready to hire.”

Simpson said before veterans start the interview process the Mobile American Job Center will be in the parking lot. He said resume and interview help is available on-site before they enter the expo.

“Stop by there if you need to brush up a resume,” Simpson said. “If you need to talk to someone about employment services, if you need some hints. We have literally everything we could possibly think of is going to be there.”

Simpson said higher education, health care and VA representatives will be there to get veterans any assistance they need. He said there will be help for even the most basic of needs that vets might have.

“Life church, their medical DUO mission truck will be there doing medical screenings,” Simpson said. “They’ll be doing free haircuts, they’re going to be feeding folks. So just come on out.”

Simpson said that education opportunities through Vol State, TCAT and TTU will be there. The even will run until 2:00 PM, the public is free to attend after noon.
