TTU Addresses Audit Finding On Enrollment Statuses Not Matching Loan Data

Tennessee Tech has addressed an audit finding that found deficiencies in enrollment reporting of the federal Direct Loan Program.

A State Comptroller report released Tuesday said Tech did not have adequate procedures while reporting the enrollment status of some loan borrowers. Chief Communication Officer Karen Lykins said a fix has been made.

“The section of the record and registration manual that addresses that process to upload our enrollment data to the Clearinghouse has been reviewed,” Lykins said. “We’ve updated it, and our employees have been trained on the new process.”

According to the report, 25 loan borrowers who had a status change were sampled. The Comptroller’s Office found three students’ enrollment in the National Student Loan Data System did not match Tech’s information.

The audit released was for the year ended June 30, 2020. According to the university’s response in the report, revisions to the process was made in April of this year. The finding was the only issue identified by the Comptroller’s Office.
