Cookeville HS Auditorium Getting Renewed Sight And Sound

The auditorium at Cookeville High School is getting a new look and new sound this school year.

Deputy Schools Director Tim Martin said the time had come to replace the aging light and sound control system. Martin said that so much great work gets done at that stage and students deserve a venue to be proud of.

“It is kind of dark in there and we do so many different types of events,” Martin said. “So of course the student performances are huge but we also have a lot of meetings when we have classes come in.”

Martin said that replacing the curtains on the stage were actually one of the most expensive parts of the auditorium renovations. Martin said the renovations are about restoring each aspect important to a performance or event.

“You have a variety of things going on in there and we do want it to look nice,” Martin said. “But we want it to function well too, and the new sound board will make it much easier for people to hear in the audience.”

Martin said the auditorium equipment has been ordered, delays in delivery make project completion expected to happen by Christmas time.
