Stone Memorial High Theater Presents “Ghostchasers”

Stone Memorial High School’s Theater II class is presenting a production of “Ghostchasers” by Tim Kelly.

Theater Teacher and Director Eleni Fragopoulos said that the high school’s theater department teaches students from backstage skills in costumes and set-building to the history of theater.

“”Kids are natural performers,” Fragopoulos said. “They don’t have the depth of the performance or where its coming from when they don’t have the background and understanding of how theater came about as a reflection of humans and what was going on in the world at the time.”

Set in a 1980s asylum, Fragopoulos said that “Ghostchasers” presented a festive and fun show for her class to perform. She said that each year she picks a show catered to her students.

“This year we thought lets go lighthearted,” Fragopoulos said. “Let’s go somewhere where everybody can be a little silly and goofy and over the top, because it fits the students that I have in there.”

Fragopoulos said that with the 1980s feel, the show will be nostalgic for those that grew up in the time, as well as a fun way to celebrate Halloween. She said that in addition to the entertainment, she hopes people will attend to show support for her students.

“It helps them come alive on stage when they have people come to see the show, and hopefully, that would transpose our audience to where they have a moment where they can forget about the trouble of the world,” Fragopoulos said.

Tickets for “Ghostchasers” will be available at the door prior to the show, which runs from Thursday, October 28th to Saturday, October 30th at 7 p.m., and a 1 p.m. matinee on the 30th. Tickets cost $5 for students and $7 for adults. House opens 30 minutes prior to the show, and the auditorium has open seating.
