White County School System has received final approval on its third round of federal COVID funding.
Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger said the district will now be able to move forward on improving BonDeCroft Elementary School.
“It’s one of our older buildings,” Dronebarger said. “We’re going to tie it together with a free standing gymnasium that’s there and dress up the look of it and bring it to the 21st century. We’re excited about that. It’s over due at that school.”
Dronebarger said the project would connect the main gymnasium and pre-k school to the main school building. Dronebarger said the system also looks to fund software contracts and tutoring with the some $8.7 million.
“Just yesterday, we received word from the state department of education that our ESSER 3.0 expenditures are approved,” Dronebarger said. “We have a few more steps as far as public posting goes on our website, but we’re looking forward to getting those dollars in action.”
