Work Starting To Upgrade Jamestown Water Treatment Plant

Jamestown began updates to its water treatment plant on Thursday.

Chief Financial Officer Gail Dishmon said the work will be done in phases, this portion replaces the plant’s control system. Dishmon said the quicker this work can be completed, the quicker they can apply for more grant funding.

“We’re putting in for other grants as of right now anyways,” Dishmon said. “But we can put in for more once we show, ‘hey, we did this, we used that money for good for the citizens and getting the water treatment plant running.”

Dishmon said Jamestown selected the lowest bid price at $365,000. She said this project was covered by a $500,000 ARC grant.

“The bids came in at around what we were expecting,” Dishmon said. “A little bit lower, which was a good thing.”

Dishmon said the timeline to completion is unknown. However, she said the control system replacement is just the start of more upgrades to come at the water treatment plant.
