This Week: Overton Commission Selects Chairman, Livingston Rescheduled Meeting

This week in the Upper Cumberland the Overton County Commission will elect its new leaders of the board.

The meeting comes Monday at 5:00 PM to vote on its Chairman and Chairman Pro-tem positions. The Commission will also consider adding another Ag Extension Office position and applying for grants for the county archives.

The Livingston Board of Aldermen will meet for a rescheduled meeting Monday at 5:00 PM. The board will have the second reading of rezoning changes, as well as a city charter change. The board will hear the Downtown Revitalization report, a flood mitigation report and the first reading of a hotel/motel tax ordinance.

The Joint Economic Community Development Board of Putnam County will meet Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

Also on Tuesday, the City of Algood will consider moving forward with a new retirement plan option for city employees as recommended by Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System. Algood will also consider awarding bids for two projects, including sewer testing and cleaning, and the White Plains Historic Home roof repair.

The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. at city hall.

The City of Cookeville will gather Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at city hall to discuss a loan application and customer rates. The water department has applied for $17.5 million to expand the existing water treatment facility.

Monterey will have a rescheduled meeting Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Mayor JJ Reels tested positive for COVID causing the move.
