Fall Gardeners’ Festival Giving Free Education And Fun In Crossville

A free day of learning and outdoor gardening coming to Crossville’s UT AgResearch Center August 31st.

Garden Coordinator Shalena Durkot said the Fall Gardeners’ Festival returns in-person this year ready for those with a green thumb.

“We’re so excited to get to have a live event again this year,” Durkot said. “Last year would have marked our 12th annual Fall Gardeners’ Festival, but we do get to return live this year. It is a fun and educational day free for the community.”

Durkot said 13 presentations are scheduled. Durkot said participants can learn about many topics such as pollinators, ground cover plants and fruit and nut crops.

“We have UT Extensions and professors from across the state that are speaking, as well as the Southeast Regional President from the American Conifer Society,” Durkot said. “In addition to the presentations, we have educational exhibits set up throughout the garden including the Ask the Expert from Nashville Soil and Pest Center.”

Durkot said vendors will also be present selling their crafts and wares. Durkot said experienced gardeners to those just getting started can all benefit from the education and fun.

“Whether you are all gardeners or you just want to see a pretty garden or curious what happens at the AgResearch station,” Durkot said. “Maybe, you’re just curious about some pest or disease problems you might have in your garden. All that is great information you will be able to find out here.”

The education center is located at 320 Experiment Station Road. Registration to attend begins at 8:00 a.m. with activities lasting until 3:00 p.m. Durkot said you can also reserve your spot online.
