LA Alumni Association Completing New Courtyard For Students

The new Livingston Academy students will notice some new improvements to the high school entrance when returning to class.

Assistant Principal Lesley Riddle said the new Alumni Association Courtyard is complete and gives the opportunity for outside learning.

“Every year they are trying to find new projects to help the students at Livingston Academy,” Riddle said. “This year was a pretty good year for the fundraising with the alumni association. So, that was just something that Livingston Academy didn’t have.”

Riddle said the area now has four picnic tables anchored to new stamped concrete, as well as, a stone wall around the flag pole and seating wall.

“I’m very excited,” Riddle said. “I don’t think I could have pictured it as nice as it is. I am very very excited for how people are going to respond. We’re getting really good responses on Facebook and stuff like that, but people that are actually there so the pictures on Facebook don’t do it justice.”

Riddle said new grass has also been sown and more landscaping is to come in the fall. Riddle said the alumni association paid for the project through fundraising over the past year.

“The planning started back in April, maybe in May,” Riddle said. “Drawing it out and decoding what to order and whom to order things. The shrubs were removed in June, and then, we got the concrete people here pretty quickly for the stamped concrete.”

Riddle said one ADA compliant table is included. Riddle said the only remaining piece for the project is a back ordered trash can on the way.
