Obituaries For Friday, July 23

A memorial service for S. Marie Stacy, 85 of Sparta, will be conducted 10:00am Saturday, July 24 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta. Internment will follow in Bascom Cemetery near Morrison, beside Frank Stacy, her loving husband of 19 years. Mrs. Stacy quietly passed away at home on July 21st. Marie lived a full and beautiful life and lived each day to the fullest. She loved to sew, paint, garden, spoil her family, was always upbeat and positive and a joy to be around. She is survived by a loving family that includes three children. The family will receive friends from 9:00am until service time Saturday at Hunter Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Betty Sue Johnson Bradley, 92, of Henrico, Virginia, formerly of Cookeville, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Cookeville City Cemetery. Born March 10, 1928, in Cookeville, TN, to the late Herschel J. and Nannie Pearl Johnson, the youngest of five children. She graduated Central High School in Cookeville and attended Tennessee Tech. She earned her teaching certificate and taught grade school. She married Clarence Eugene Bradley in Cookeville on November 11, 1949, and they moved to Washington, D.C., then Northern Virginia. She held various clerical and office management positions and eventually returned to teaching, substituting in Henrico County Public Schools. She is survived by two children, Walter Russell Bradley and Patricia Jean Bradley. Her family will receive friends Saturday, July 24th, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 AM at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services For Mable Christian, Age 76, Of Crossville, Tennessee, Will Be Conducted On Saturday, July 24, 2021, At 11:00 AM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Glen Murphy Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Muddy Pond Cemetery. Ms. Christian Was Born On Saturday, June 16, 1945, In Monterey, Tennessee, To The Late Kernel B. And Eliza Jane Padgett Swallows. Ms. Christian Passed Away On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, At Her Home. Ms. Christian Was A Factory Worker. She Is Survived By Her Daughter And Son-In-Law, Sherry And Ronald Sisco Of Crossville. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Saturday, July 24, 2021, From 10:00 AM Until Time Of Services At 11:00 AM.

Funeral services for Mr. James (Jim) Staggs, age 60 of Rickman, Overton Co., will be held on Saturday, July 24 at 11 AM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Staggs passed from this life on Monday, July 19 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a logger by profession and worked hard for his family and he loved them all very much. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his three children, Jennifer Sells, Dustin (Chelsea) Staggs, and Greg (Ashley) Bowers. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 23rd starting at 5 PM until 9 PM. officiating the service will be Bro. Richard Harris.

A celebration of life for Charles E. Phipps, age 81 of Fayetteville, formerly of Monterey, will be held Saturday, 1pm at Lynchburg Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Fayetteville, Tennessee. He went to be with his heavenly father Wednesday, July 21, 2021. He was born October 14, 1939 in Monterey, Tennessee to the late Frank and Treva Phipps. Charles was a kindhearted family man that could make you laugh on your worst day. He was a longtime member of Northside Church of Christ in Fayetteville. Charles enjoyed trading guns, fishing and small game hunting. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge and worked as an Auxiliary Police in his earlier years. Charles is survived by his wife of 59 years Linda Phipps; sons, Charles Craig Phipps and Darryl Wayne Phipps; sisters, Wanda Harvill and Carol Branham (Charlie). The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, July 24th.

Memorial services for James (Jim) Francis Deffley, Jr., 69, of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday, July 24 at 1 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. The family has chosen cremation. Mr. Deffley passed away on Tuesday, July 6 at his residence. He was born January 15, 1952, in Woonsocket, RI, to the late James Francis Deffley, Sr. and Mary Catherine Dolan Deffley. On August 26, 1979, he was married to Carol J. Deffley, who survives. He worked as a purchasing manager. Survivor include his wife, Carol J. Deffley of Cookeville; and daughters, Christina (Edward) A. Laquerre, and Jami (Edward) Barnsley. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross by contacting the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 24 from 11 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral services for Leonard “Len” Carroll, age 73 of Silver Point, will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Presley Funeral Home. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. He passed away on on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. Born Sunday, August 31, 1947 in Jacksboro, Tennessee, he was the son of the late David Carroll and the late Clossie Stevens Carroll. He was the loving husband of Jaime Sisco Carroll for 40 blessed years. Len was a very private and reserved person. He enjoyed spending time with his cars and dogs. He was an auto body repairman, but enjoyed his 1970 Nova. He would offer to help anyone with anything. He loved his fur babies, Oscar, Hugo and King. More specificly, he loved the Lord, and his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Gregory Len (Amber) Carroll of Knoxville, TN. The family will receiving guests from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Swindell, age 88 of Sparta, will be conducted 2:00pm Saturday, July 24 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Spring Hill Cemetery. Richard Haston will officiate. Mrs. Swindell passed away on Monday, July 18. She was the 7th of 13 children, the mother to five children, a homemaker, and member of the Gum Spring Baptist Church. She was owner and operator of the Swindell Grocery and Restaurant, enjoyed working at Cato and Walmart in Sparta, loved sewing projects, gardening, sports and cheering on her sons, music and especially Neil Diamond, singing, and autumn drives in the country. Surviving family members include her four sons, Mike (Judy) Sherrod, Don (Mary Beth) Swindell, David (Tami) Swindell, and Darren (Sharon) Swindell. The family will receive friends Saturday from noon until service time at Hunter Funeral Home.

Memorial services for Mr. Robert J. Anderson, age 72 of Cookeville, will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, July 25 at Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home in Cookeville. Wendell Byrd will officiate. Robert was a devoted employee of Woodbine Funeral Home in Nashville for 30 years following a time working at Eagle Furniture alongside his brothers Ricky and Gary. He was a collector of antiques and funeral profession antiques. Surviving family includes a host of brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends after 12:00pm Sunday at the funeral home. Wendell Byrd will officiate.

A Celebration of Life for Kelly Fletcher, 54 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, July 25 at 2:00 pm at Willow Avenue Church of Christ with Bros. Kevin Daughrity and Chase Fletcher officiating. Mr. Fletcher passed from this life on Tuesday, July 20 at his home peacefully surrounded by his family. Kelly was a loving husband, father, and Pa. He loved life, his family, and could quickly light up a room. His sense of humor left lasting memories for those that loved him. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Carol Fletcher; and three Children, Chase (Taylor) Fletcher, Cody Fletcher, and Heather (Heath) Moore. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 25 at Willow Avenue Church of Christ.

A memorial service for Jake Mayberry, age 45 of Bloomington Springs, will be held on Sunday, July 25 at the Bloomington Springs Community Center at 2 pm. Mr. Mayberry passed away on July 14 at his residence. He was the son of Mary Mansell and the late Charlie Odell Mayberry. He worked as a mechanic for the City of Cookeville. Surviving family includes his children, Joseph (Victoria) Kent Mayberry, Samantha (Zachary) Michelle Morgan, and Haley Brook Mayberry; and his mother, Mary Mansell of Cookeville. Memorial donations may be made to assist with funeral expenses by contacting the funeral home.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Sharon Kay Smith Reece, age 67, of Livingston will be conducted 11 a.m., Monday, July 26 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Jerry Buck will officiate. Burial to follow in the Fisk Cemetery. Mrs. Reece passed from this life on Thursday, morning, July 22 from the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Baptist in Faith, Sharon worked for 25 years at the Overton County Health & Rehab. She loved all her family, especially her grandbabies, and great-grandbabies. Sharon also loved cutting up with her late husband Danny, singing and listening to music. Sharon leaves behind her son, Kenneth Reece and wife Jenny of Hilham; daughters, Kimberly Scott, and Kristy Phillips both of Livingston. The family will welcome friends on Sunday evening from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.
