UC Non-Profits Eligible To Apply For CFMT Grant Funding

Upper Cumberland non-profits are eligible to participate in the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee’s grant program.

Community Relations Director Pat Embry said organizations have until August 6th to apply.

“It’s an exciting time,” Embry said. “It is one of the key reasons why we’re in business here is to award grants to non-profit organizations that serve such a wide range of causes from animal welfare, arts and humanities, conservation and preservation, environment, education.”

Embry said the number of grants awarded will be comparable to last year. In 2020, some $2.4 million was given through 350 grants throughout Middle Tennessee.

Embry said he recommends that organizations make their applications as specific as possible for a better chance to earn funding. Embry said results should be announced in mid-December.

“We have committees that help decide all this and weigh different factors,” Embry said. “Grant writing doesn’t mean you have to use flowery language. You have to ask for something really specific. Spaying and neutering pets, for example.”

All 501(c)(3) public charities must have a full and updated profile in GivingMatters.com in order to be considered, Embry said. Visit www.cfmt.org to apply.
