Obituaries For Monday, June 21

Funeral services for Mr. Matthew Lee Hill, age 34 of Livingston, will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 2:30 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Lynn Cemetery in Jackson Co, TN. He passed from this life at his residence on Saturday morning June 19, 2021. Mr. Matthew Lee Hill was born in Cookeville, Putnam Co., TN to Marvin and Deborah (Ramsey) Hill. Matthew loved his wife, children, parents, sisters and brothers very much. He will be greatly missed very much. Survivors include Wife: Samantha Hill; 1 Son: Sean Hill; 1 Daughter: Maddisin Hill; 1 Step Daughter: McKenzie Redman; Parents: Marvin and Deborah Hill; 2 Sisters: Natasha Maxwell, April Meyers; 3 Brothers: Christopher Ramsey, Josh Harris, Chris Harri. The family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, June 22nd starting at 10:30 AM prior to the service time. Officiating with the service will be Bro. Matt Turner.

Funeral Service for Louis Morgan Wheeler, age 92 of Nameless, will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 12:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bros. Mike Fox and Kelly Stockton officiating. He passed from this life on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville. Louis was born Tuesday, April 23, 1929, in Nameless, Tennessee, and he was the son of the late William Rogers Wheeler and the late Minnie (Kirby) Wheeler. Louis was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a strong Christian, loved to lead singing, and enjoyed time in prayer. Louis is survived by, Daughter, Tracey Wheeler Wakefield and husband Jonathan. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021, from 10:00 am until the time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Ronnie Stephen Mangum, age 71 of Baxter, will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday June 23 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Tiebout will officiate. Interment will follow at Laurel Creek Cemetery in Rock Island. Mr. Mangum passed away on Sunday June 20 surrounded by his loved ones. Ronnie worked for Kroger for 37 years where he retired at age 53 as a store manager. He owned Daylight Springs Nursery in McMinnville, Tennessee. He loved sharing his knowledge of trees and how to take care of them with others. Ronnie was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed building fishing poles for his family, and you could find him sharing his vast knowledge and experience of fishing with his grandchildren. He surrounded himself with humming bird feeders where you could find sometimes six at a time outside his bedroom window, he also had a fondness for leaving corn out for the chipmunks who were no stranger to his home. He ensured his family always had everything they needed and wanted, and he took great pride in knowing his loved ones were cared for. Ronnie is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Mangum; and four children, Greg (Leigh) Mangum of Murfreesboro, Mindy Smith of Cookeville, Amy (Jason) Gingras of Sparta, and Melody (Jeff) Tollison of Cookeville. The Mangum family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mr. Gerald Thomas Verble, age 74 of Murfeesboro and formerly of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Thursday, June 24 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Old Zion Cemetery. Mr. Verble passed away peacefully with family by his side in his home Sunday June 20. He was a 1964 graduate of White County High School and spent his career as a computer programmer and consultant. Jerry had a love of race cars, motorcycles and the Tennessee Titans. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time on the beaches – both in the United States and abroad. But most of all, Papa Jerry’s most beloved time was the late night ice creams with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mary Anita Officer Verble of Murfreesboro, whom he married on June 29, 1968; his son, Jeffery Glenn Verble; and daughter, Stephanie (Jamie) Weber. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until service time at 1:00pm Thursday at Hunter Funeral Home.

Masonic and Eastern Star Services for Mr. Bobby Lee Rice, age 83 of Hilham will be conducted 7 p.m., Thursday, June 24 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Mr. Bobby Rice passed away on Saturday morning, June 19 from the comfort of his home. He was born in Baxter, Tennessee on February 9, 1938 to the late Logan Mansfield and Alice Judd Rice. Bobby moved north at a young age to work for General Motors. He soon met the love of his life, Carolyn Brock, where they soon married and started their life as one. Bobby was a 32nd Degree Mason for 50 years, and devoted much of his life to the lodge. He was a member of the Livingston Masonic Lodge #259, Livingston Eastern Star #206, Gainesboro Eastern Star #503, Shriners Club, and Scottish Rite. Bobby enjoyed rabbit hunting with his beagle dogs and also enjoyed fishing. Bobby leaves behind his devoted wife of 63 years, Mrs. Carolyn L. Brock Rice of Hilham; sons, Bobby Joe (Susan) Rice of Centerline, MI, and James Ray (Sherry) Rice of Hilham; and daughter, Patty Lee Rice and fiance Author Rose of Freeport Bahamas. Memorial Donations, in Memory of Bobby Rice may be made to the Shriners Hospital by contacting Livingston Funeral Home. The family will welcome friends on Thursday afternoon from 2 until 9 p.m. at the Livingston Funeral Home.
