Cookeville’s Hometown Hot Chicken Bringing Nashville Tradition To UC

The Nashville tradition of hot chicken has made its debut in the Cookeville community.

Hometown Hot Chicken operated and owned by Jaden Flynn, Scott Knight and Adam Parks. Flynn said Cookeville presented an untapped market, and the three wanted to take advantage.

“Scott and Adam were always driving to Nashville to get hot chicken and one day they were like, ‘Man, I really wish we had a hot chicken place in Cookeville,” Flynn said. “And then, I was like, ‘Guys, we can start one right now.’ So here we are.”

Flynn said orders are delivery only for now as the business grows.

“In 2021, everybody is busy coming out of COVID season,” Flynn said. “Things in the retail market are moving more towards delivery. (…) So to me coming from a busy person stand point, it’s more worth my time to bring me what I want right to me. At some point, I am sure we will explore a brick and mortar location.”

Parks said the menu has classic options of tenders, sandwiches and fries. Parks said instead of driving over an hour, you can now get classic hot kitchen right in town.

“Nashville hot chicken is the food of Tennessee,” Parks said. “It is probably the most famous out of the state. We are only an hour and a half outside of Nashville, so technically, we’re right in the area, but an hour and a half is a long way to drive to eat.”

Flynn said orders can be made through the Hometown Hot Chicken Facebook or by calling (931)-510-6147.
