Tennessee HWY Patrol Increases Activity This Weekend

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is planning to have high visibility for Memorial Day Weekend and through the other summer months.

THP to increase patrols and use a variety of traffic safety tools to prevent fatalities and injuries across the state during the holiday weekend. They plan on implementing seat belt and sobriety checkpoints as well as increasing presence in high-crash corridors.

Last year, 12 people were killed in vehicle crashes during Memorial Day Weekend in Tennessee. Troopers arrested 144 individuals on DUI suspicions and ticketed 801 motorists for seat belt violations.

THP said as we come out of the pandemic they expect more travel and more chances for accidents, so they are working proactively to ensure road safety for all drivers and passengers.
